Please join us for the opening of our exhibit Original Copies: Facsimiles and their Mediations of Authenticity and Ownership, up through July 28, 2023 in the Kempner Gallery. This exhibit draws from a wide range of materials in RBML (as well as other distinctive collections at Columbia) to examine the technologies used to produce facsimiles (that is, copies that precisely replicate the appearance of an original), the anxieties and aspirations that surround the production of these exacting copies, and what facsimiles can tell us about their makers and users -- and about ourselves.
