The combination of inequality and institutional weakness contributed to making Latin America the epicenter of the pandemic. Yet, social inequality and political crises preceded its arrival. What are the consequences of Covid-19 on both inequality and social policy innovation? What is the impact of the pandemic on already weak institutions and political regimes, which were already taking different trajectories?
We will have Nora Lustig, Professor of Latin American Economics at Tulane University and Steven Levitsky, Professor and Director of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard to help us answer these questions and their inter-connectedness to reflect on the future of Latin America. It will be moderated by Professor Maria Victoria Murillo, Executive Director of the Institute of Latin American Studies at Columbia.
