Wally Adeyemo and Glenn Hubbard on COVID-19, Democracy & the Economy

May 7, 2020
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
America/New_York
Online Event
Columbia World Projects will host a livestreamed public conversation between Wally Adeyemo, former Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economics, and Glenn Hubbard, Dean Emeritus and Russell L. Carson Professor of Finance and Economics at Columbia Business School and former chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. The spread of COVID-19 has driven economic hardship across the United States and laid bare the stark inequalities that interplay, now more critically than ever, with public health. In response to ongoing fragilities impelled by the pandemic, Adeyemo and Hubbard will discuss questions regarding macroeconomic impacts, policymaking and other efforts to support vulnerable communities and businesses, and on the pressures the crisis exerts on both democratic deliberation and independent monetary institutions led by experts. The discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A. All Eventbrite registrants will receive a link to the event by email before it begins.
