Title: Stars: that’s why their light is so bright – it’s full of secrets
Abstract: “In this talk, we will discuss examining starlight, a technique known as stellar spectroscopy. This powerful method reveals the composition and motion of celestial objects, allowing us to make discoveries about stars and galaxies that are trillions of miles away. You'll get a glimpse into the life of an astronomer as you learn how to plan, conduct, and analyze observations from one of the largest telescopes on Earth.”
We'll start the evening at 8:00pm with some astronomy trivia, followed by the talk and Q&A. From 9:10-10:00pm, we will be outside observing on campus (weather permitting).
