Title: Our Magnetic Universe: An Attractive (or Repulsive) Tour of the Cosmos
Abstract: “Here on Earth, we are intimately familiar with magnetic fields: from the credit card scanner to the computer hard drive to the electric motor, magnetism shapes our everyday lives. But magnetic fields aren't exclusive to our home planet -- they're everywhere throughout the Universe. In this talk, I'll take you on a tour of our magnetic Universe, highlighting why magnetic fields are one of the most important components of the cosmos. ”
We'll start the evening at 7:30pm with some astronomy trivia, followed by Ryan's talk and Q&A. From 8:40-9:40pm, we will be outside observing on campus (weather permitting).
