Global increases in life expectancy and decreases in fertility have fostered the emergence of aging societies (those in which individuals over age 60 outnumber those under age 15) amongst high, middle and low income countries. The Aging Society Research Network, an interdisciplinary group of scholars, has studied issues relating to aging societies with a special focus on two themes: metrics for assessing the adaptation of societies to the demographic transformation and trends in the well being of aging populations and special sub-populations over time. This presentation will provide an overview of the Network's Research portfolio with an emphasis on recently reported and ongoing research.
