Do you work with data and need to present it persuasively, but have only worked with basic “point-and-click” software like Excel or Tableau? If so, this workshop is for you. How can I best convey my message with data? Should I only make one point with a graph or multiple ones? What is the right way to add interactivity to a graphic? How can I show different results for different groups on the same chart or not? Is it really never okay to use a pie chart? Is there a role for commentary somewhere on a data visualization? This workshop on the principles of data visualization will allow you to start answering these types of questions. About the instructor: Thomas Brambor teaches courses in the politics department at NYU, the Center for Data Science at NYU and the QMSS MA program at Columbia.
