Human Rights Career Talk with Marissa Jackson Sow

Join CLS alum Marissa Jackson Sow (’09) for a talk exploring her social justice path in non-profits, government, and private practice. Marissa will share how human rights have informed her work at private law firms and in local government, the skills she gained as the deputy commissioner for community relations at the New York City Commission on Human Rights (NYCCHR), and her transition back into human rights advocacy. Marissa’s experience includes serving as general counsel of the NYC Mayor’s Office for International Affairs, teaching lawyering at the NYU School of Law, clerking for the Honorable Sterling Johnson Jr. and the Honorable Damon J. Keith, and litigating cases at Davis Polk & Wardwell. This event will be moderated by JoAnn Kamuf Ward, director, Human Rights in the US Project at HRI, and Dante Violette of Columbia Law School’s BLSA and QTPOC. Opening remarks will be followed by interactive discussion with attendees.
