Set against the nightscape of Lagos, Nigeria, Taxi Driver (Oko Ashewo) follows Adigun (Femi Jacobs), a naïve mechanic unfamiliar with city ways, who comes to Lagos to claim the inheritance left by his deceased father -- an old taxi cab nicknamed Tom Cruiz. Adigun takes on the cab and becomes a taxi driver. He learns on the job how to navigate Lagos streets, and confronts the complicated interactions between the prostitutes and criminals that do business after nightfall. Join the Institute of African Studies for a screening of the film, followed by a Q&A with director Daniel Oriahi, in conversation with Professor Brian Larkin.
