Dr. Chan has an interest functional genomics and vulnerabilities related to impaired DNA damage response states. He has worked considerably in the area of targets related to microsatellite instability and identified the helicase WRN as a synthetic lethal target in cancers with this class of instability. He is now both exploring the mechanisms of WRN dependence as well as other biology related to genetic defects that occur in cells in the setting of MSI/Mismatch Repair Impairment.
